I've spent much of the night watching The Amazing Digital Circus

Which combines shitty '80s-90s Beyond the Mind's Eye CGI cartoons with whiny up-their-own-ass Millennial/Gen-Z introspective whining (MC Pomni states she's 25, but Uuuugh we can tell).

… but I like shitty CGI cartoons, & occasionally some of the characters. Mostly Kinger & Zooble.

Ep 2 with the NPCs & broken bump-map terrain, is actually good. I have dreams like that a lot. A LOT.

I've seen eps 1-6 now. I kinda tune out when the show tries too hard with the archetypes thing. Jax rabbit (ha ha), ribbon, & raggedy Ann are awful, they make me miss the emotional subtlety of 60s-80s sitcoms. Pomni's whoever she interacted with last.

Caine is psychotic the way any GM is. "Ho ho I'm the Dungeon Master!" as that fucking gnome says in D&D cartoon, & it's just as sadistic here.

But. I'm still watching. Is it good anyway?

There are some good jokes for CS people. Searle's Chinese Room in ep 7, the "Beach Episode" (every anime needs one). Ep 2 has Utah Teapots EVERYWHERE. Ep 5 has a slice of life school anime scene, but it didn't last long, I was hoping for Isekai Quartet style shenanigans for a moment.

Well that explains everything. It's LISP.

Last ep drops in June.

@mdhughes is that a UNIX shell on Windows 95?
@reiddragon Presumably he's using ssh to a real computer, but also Kinger's insane.
@mdhughes I've seen memes from this. Being in 80s-style Lisp would explain why it looks like EVERYONE-IS-SHOUTING-ALL-THE-TIME.
@mdhughes
I watched ep 1 some time back. I was curious, but it didn't really click with me in particular.
@mdhughes Thanks for reminding me about this. Started watching but got derailed by other stuff. There was something quite dark and claustrophobic about the thing.
@Ra Yeah, it does get grimmer & more tyrannical as it goes on.
