So far - to rescue all three F-15E and A-10 crew members, the US Air Force has destroyed two C-130 Hercules and damaged two search and rescue UH-60 Blackhawks, and sent more aircraft to Iran to rescue the crews of the destroyed planes. It's all going great.

It's a bit hard to keep tabs on this, but I do believe American aircraft losses in the Iran war are currently higher than the combined Ukrainian and Russian aircraft losses in the Ukraine war. Last week only, obviously.

As a reminder: the reason I'm being heavily sarcastic about the success of rescuing pilots from hostile territory is that they were there to commit war crimes in an illegal war. Doesn't change just because the other hostile party is also awful.

@osma I’m kind of glad Iranians didn’t find the weapons officer, because then US would have sent even more to try and break them out. Could have been a ”Black Hawk Down” -situation.

But then again, perhaps Mr. Fox and Friends will be feeling even more invulnerable after this one and will make a Black Hawk Down situation anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Given the operational competence demonstrated by the Department of War Crimes, they'd be as likely to bomb the prison as break into it..

@osma And perhaps even more top military brass will get fired, as any close calls they might have gotten into are discussed in debriefings today.

Honestly I don’t think anything short of $200 oil or a military coup will stop them at this point.

I doubt any mil brass get fired for incompetence. So far it appears all the firings have been for refusal to be awful enough.

@osma Yes. More like fired for competence. Under authoritarian regimes it tends to be competence that puts you at risk, actually. Can’t have underlings too skilled, you see. They might threaten the leader..
