@chris
Wasn’t it filmed up in Jasper?

@chris
Hmm. Apparently not.

I don’t know where I got that idea from.

@crispius i think its a common story we canadians tell ourselves :) i thought so too!
@chris @crispius I don't know that I've heard that one although given I know Jasper extremely well I would have discounted it immediately if I had heard it.
@Chigaze
It’s actually kind of interesting: I did some quick searching and @chris and I aren’t the only one who thought that the Jasper Park Lodge was used in the film. It appears to be a Canadian Mandala Effect moment!
@crispius @Chigaze @chris Maybe misremembering the Banff Springs Hotel connection? Allegedly a similar murder happened there and the guest room was sealed up afterwards. Supposedly it isn't visible from inside, but one could see older curtains through its window compared to surrounding windows. The hotel says this is just legend, of course.

Footage from opening of The Shining were re-used for the original closing of Blade Runner when President Ford drives away with the robot.

@chris
"the team used the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Montana's Glacier National Park, which covers 50 miles and is the only road that traverses the park. Wild Goose Island and the north shore of Saint Mary Lake can be seen in the resulting footage."
