15 years ago I was contributing to a RRSP matching program at my first employer for a short period of time.

I was in my mid-20s and once i quit my job, i forgot about this account, moved to a new address and lost track of it.

Few months ago Canada Life tracked me down, told me i had money sitting in it for 15 years and I could retrieve it. (It was a nice surprise)

I finally took the time to look into it today. Over 15 years, the return was 0.5%. I made $40.

The way those old school investment companies operate is insane and borderline criminal.

0.5% over 15 years, how mcuh fees did they make over that period during such a high growth stock period?

The account was called "moderate growth".

I'm so glad I learned later how to invest on my own and not rely on anyone else.

This account is getting transferred to Wealthsimple immediately.

@jerome WTF, je sens que même les ristournes des caisses populaires serait plus généreux! 😅

Perso, je demanderai d’avoir les relevé détaillés de tout ça pour voir ce qui s’est passé avec ce compte!
