So LinkedIn, basically.
I thought of this whole “LinkedIn for spies” riff while I was struggling to describe to someone how I use LinkedIn.
I hibernated my “real” LinkedIn profile a few years ago and created a second account. Different email address, not my whole name, no contacts, no job history. I now use LinkedIn solely for what you could call corporate intelligence-gathering.
(Is that gross and cynical? Sure. But everything about LinkedIn is gross and/or cynical, including the users.)
@maxleibman I’ve done similar. A colleague and I went to an industry event where we were registered through our company. That event allowed you to day of registration, for a nominal cost.
We left and re-registered under LLCs we each separately had. Much easier to get competitors to talk to us and demo their products. No NDA level info but good to hear how they talk about their products
