Simon Rolfmore@Documentally the one on the left is the night side of the earth, lit only by moonshine, so it looks a lot lower contrast despite the advances in camera tech.

Richard A@Documentally it horrifies me to see that car traffic is so dense during a petroleum crisis. That looks like smog, on a global scale. People can’t live without their cars. The pandemic didn’t help them kick their addiction.
@richardazia apparently the photo on the left was taken at night. That’s the difference.
@Documentally I was thinking of white balance, different image processing, and other reasons for the images being different. It's nice to see photos of a crescent earth, for a change. It's one of the photos I saw, related to this trip to the moon.
