I wonder if the Iranians have the missing pilot, and are keeping it hush, à la Nikita Kuschev's treatment of the U2 crash over the USSR, which played out something like this:

Usians: we lost a weather reconnaissance plane and the pilot, somewhere north of Turkey

Nikita the K: Nyet. We have the plane, BTW. It's a spy plane.

Usians: but the pilot radioed some difficulties with the oxygen system then ejected, and the plane continued on into the USSR.
