So our new maker space toy is a MOPA 60watt fiber laser. :) Experimenting with it now. It's on MY maker space side. ;) Along with the laser cutter and the Eufy UV Printer. Will be interesting to see how we can combine stuff together. Example UV print on metal combined with MOPA carving and cutting. #MakerSpace #UVPrint #MOPALaser
@nomdeb You make me jealous!
@cybervegan heh. My husband and I are both such introverts this is most of our entertainment in retirement. We arenโ€™t social animals at all. We do plan some travel but mostly we are happy puttering about in our growing in-home maker spaces. As I tell people there is NO RULE that says we must have a grown up house. ๐Ÿคก
@nomdeb I ran a makerspace for a while, but it imploded when we had problems with the landlord and funding. Today, like you I have minded of my own personal one - I have low tech tools and a diode laser cutter and a couple of 3d printers, though not been able to do much with it all for the last 6 months or so cuz Autistic burnout. Hoping to get my head together enough at summer point to get back into it.
@cybervegan Sorry about the landlord, etc. :( Phooey. But cool about your home space. I hope you get back into it! For us, part of the fun is learning how to use the tool then pushing it in whacky ways as far as possible. Another part of the fun is making things for friends and family (erm victims ;)). Example cake toppers, graduation gifts, that sort of thing. You can see some of my laser cake toppers here: https://mstdn.social/tags/NDBProjectLaser

@cybervegan Hubby has a CNC and a filament and resin 3D printer. I've not ever used those though. Mostly I use the laser, but will be getting more and more into the Eufy UV printer and the MOPA laser. I've offered to make custom stuff for friends' kids wedding this year for example. No idea what yet - we are still not at the brainstorming stage yet. :)
@cybervegan I make hubby keep the "messier machines" on his side. <big wide grin>
