πŸ’ thickly furred creatures wearing tight-fitting bodysuit things in hot weather to eliminate the insulating air layer from their fur
Fun fact: I first wrote this as a neat piece of worldbuilding without even thinking about it as a "sexy clothes" thing XD

@nytpu that would not work, in fact that would have the exact opposite effect as now you are blocking any potential breeze that could have ruffled through the fur and dispersed the stale air.

perhaps something similar to water cooling would work?

@loganer …trapping a layer of air is literally the exclusive mechanism of action for down fur and down feathers. See also: wetsuits and drysuits. Trapping of air (since air is a poor thermal conductor) is how pretty much all widespread forms of insulation work

@nytpu it doesn't matter the type of fur or feathers of whatever, if your are applying a layer over top of it even if it's very tight you will inevitable create pockets of trapped air.

you will almost certainly need some kind of substance to fill in those voids if you wanted it to be effective in the way you're thinking.

@nytpu
and this is for a very similar reason as to why they shaved in order to use gas masks but I think you are trying to avoid shaving your creatures...

so the only real good alternative is to fill in those gaps with something (very likely a liquid or maybe a paste).

@nytpu
they're like owls when wet.
you see whats under it all (so if muscular you get to see all the details that was originally hidden.)
