There's a local poetry event coming up on the 18th where people can sign up to read poems, and I've been going back and forth about whether to do it or not. I have a braille display now, so I could. But all my poems are either weird, gay, sad, or some combination of those things.

There's the gay cannibalism one, the one about how hard it is to live in a body that repeatedly chooses violence, the one about how to hold succumbing to fascism while regular life happens at the same time, the ones about my attraction to toxic people who make me hate myself, the ones about coming to terms with my identity in a place that hates me...

I don't know how well any of these would be received here and poetry is not, for me, a space to soften my edges.

@greengaybles In my experience, the most profound poems are the ones that tug at the deepest parts of our selves. The memorable poems are the ones that make people feel seen. Many people are hurting. You might be surprised at how many people can relate to your words.
@stephaniepixie @greengaybles I can't say anything the two folks above me haven't already expressed perfectly - I think it would be surprising what resonates, especially from a place of honesty.
