@robpumphrey Granted, that usually means they can't reapply for a license for a period of at least 2 years and will have to convince a specifically certified psychologist that they ain't relapse if not provide proof of abstinence for a long time when it comes to DUIs - at their own expense.
@robpumphrey I mean, Germany doesn't do that either except for classes C(1)(E) & D(1)(E) and even then, people with old German Class 3 licenses (that got converted to C1E) are exempted from that.
As for the tests, C(1)(E) have a basic medical checkup once every 5 years by an officially certified physician (not one's GP!) and do some more extensive checkup for D(1)(E) cuz that's for buses.
Tho at costs exceeding €10k for a DE license (which includes D1, D, D1E, C, C1, C1E, CE) - not including the necessary car driving license (exceeding €2k) it's quite rare that those that reach these do the few things that suspend them from said license.
