I do not buy the premise of Bloodhounds Season 2 at all. It’s disappointing because what set the plot in motion in S1 - a large-scale loan shark operation preying on desperate people during the COVID-19 economic crisis - was so believable and relatable.

The setup and villain in Season 2, on the other hand, feel extremely contrived.

Hey, here’s a more plausible and less ridiculous plot setup for Season 2: Woo-jin did some criminal stuff years back before he joined the Marines (this is canon!), and was either involved in or in proximity to some at least one very serious crime. The authorities have just caught up with him and he’s facing serious prison time.

But the prosecution have much bigger fish to fry: an underground fighting and betting ring whose patrons include rich and powerful people in Korea and around the world. They have ties to other organized crime operations.

Woo-jin would be the perfect criminal informant to bust this illegal fighting ring. Does he want to make a deal?

Of course Gun-woo has to help his best friend and comrade! Especially because if things go wrong, the authorities are going to hang Woo-jin out to dry.

And things *do* go wrong, of course, putting not just Woo-jin but Gun-woo, his mom, and all their loved ones at risk.

All this is complicated by the guy who runs the illegal boxing ring, or his favorite fighter/henchman, *really* wanting to take on Gun-woo - the champ - in the fight of a lifetime.

And if they really wanted to bring In-beom back, he could be a recruit for a special match.

Tell me that’s not *much* more compelling and plausible than the actual setup for S2.
