ppl once again jump on the bandwagon of popular opinion thinking theyre counterculture, when theyre just yappin.
ppl who oppose plastic surgery, or the cosmetics industry in general, usually arent familiar with any aspect. they cant distinguish between "i feel pressure to do whatever it takes to look younger" and "my body is a canvas" and "im tired of this body dysmorphia 🙃" and "ehehe...time to experiment with The Products"
everything is boiled down to a single motive, which is Pressure to Look Younger (which dont get me wrong IS a reality), and by extension, anyone who modifies their body using any of these methods is caving to pressure. theyre weak.
what ive noticed about ppl who seek out plastic surgery purely for aesthetic reasons is that they tend to not give a fuck what anyone else does with their bodies. they just. dont. care. they dont really judge. not openly at least
"ah but maddox ye be but a man, what qualifies you to pass into this lane of womens appearances"
i have a weirdly complex background that gives me a different take on things. living in a system afab that transitioned "partway", spending a lot of time studying biology, ppl in my system used skincare products to ground and practice mindfulness, we worked at a cosmetics company for a year and had a blast, we were always supported when considering the intersections of pop culture and feminism
i understand that some of us are reaching an age where we may feel judged about our appearances, and that that judgment isnt deserved.
i also know that once the term "anti-aging" has been thoroughly investigated, from marketing, scientific, and historical perspectives, its impossible to take seriously. its meaningless. if dermatologists dont give it merit, you dont need to either.
