A good article on the #Claude #code #leak:

"The Snake That Ate Itself: What Claude Code’s Source Revealed About #AI #Engineering Culture"

'... The Uncomfortable Truth

The company that sells AI coding tools cannot build a quality product with its own AI coding tools...'

Claude Code's Source: 3,167-Line Function, Regex Sentiment

Anthropic claimed 100% of Claude Code is AI-written. A source leak exposed a 3,167-line function, regex sentiment analysis, and 250K wasted API calls daily

From the Trenches

@jmcastagnetto Great article. I just want to point out one thing from a paragraph talking about Hacker News comments:

"Defenders argued regex is faster and cheaper than an inference call. They’re right. But that’s the engineering culture talking."

That's not the engineering culture talking, that's the HN/ycombinator techbro culture talking.

@jmcastagnetto I've worked in tech for ... a few decades now. I've never seen a really awesome codebase, this all seemse pretty bad, but... in exactly the direction I expect from startups
@peribotsarah The article's point is not that is a startup, but that the code written by their own code AI model is not good at all.
Not sure if I will *still* consider Anthropic a startup at this point.
