I'm not so much into it but my girl is and I have to admit: The more I hear it, the more I'm totally baffled about how actually GOOD this song is:

Brigitte Calls Me Baby: Slumber Party

If you are in early 2000s British Pop like Franz Ferdinand, Star Sailor and the likes, this definitely should get your attention.

The funny thing is: Brigitte Calls Me Baby started out as a "The Smiths" soundalike band. Now we know how this all went with The Smiths. While Johnny Marr still is a chilled, down to earth guy, yet incredibly skilled as a guitarist and composer... the face of the Smiths, Morrissey, is not - actually quite the opposite: A bitter diva with rightwing views.
Now I think, as a "The Smiths soundalike" project you gotta take sides! And in this regards it's important to know, that The Cure's front man Robert Smith is and was never impressed by Morrissey, totally not (as his former band mate Siouxsie Sioux), and he publicly stated this multiple times.

So it's quite funny and also a bold statement, to find a large citation of The Cure's "Close to me" in this song.

On top of that Brigitte Calls me Baby is starting to emancipate themselves from sounding like a Smiths cover band, but doing their own thing now. Good!
