The #Magic are back in action tonight against the #Mavs as their final push for the regular season begins (continues?).

The #Magic want to play fast, but they still want to control the tempo. The #Mavs are going just as fast and the Magic are not always getting set. Some early shots going down for Dallas. But Magic have good energy.

11-9 ORL, 8:58 1st

It's a 12-3 run for the #Mavs right now. And it's a lot of the same issues. #Magic missing some shots, making silly turnovers, fouling too much and not being dialed in on switches and rotations.

Effort has been fine. But we've seen effort collapse.

15-14 DAL, 6:46 1st

The #Magic going to a zone and giving up a wide-open three to Klay Thompson (he missed) and two more attempts is just a sign of how far this team's defense has fallen. They are looking for any life they can on defnse right now.

25-20 ORL, 3:50 1st

The #Magic can't track Klay Thompson well. But they are growing and expanding their lead with a lineup of Jevon Carter/Jett Howard/Jamal Cain/Tristan da Silva/Goga Bitadze.

Winning that lineup is found money, frankly.

32-25 ORL, 2:08 1st

The energy for the #Magic is good. If you were questioning this team's will to fight, the first quarter is not a good argument. But the defense is still a bit rough. #Mavs' pace has been tricky to slow down. It's all details with this team.

Magic lead 38-31.

The #Magic have been crazy good at moving the ball but getting a lot of shooting luck. The #Mavs are still tearing up the Magic's defense even with the good shooting. Orlando cannot get settled defensively. And they are generating good shots.

53-50 ORL, 6:00 2nd

Wendell Carter with 13 points. He has turned and sealed more smaller players in the post in the last three games than I think I have seen from him all year. Carter has quietly been really solid all month. Just about consistency with his shooting.

60-53 ORL, 3:18 2nd

The #Magic are on a 10-3 run since the #Mavs tied the game. Dallas has been super sloppy and has gone without a field goal for four minutes. Magic are taking advantage. I would still call the pace too ragged for this group. Getting chippy now.

63-56 ORL, 1:06 2nd

I wouldn't call that a great first half for the #Magic. The defense was really rough for most of the half. But the energy has been fantastic. They are moving the ball offensively and making shots. Wendell Carter with 16 points. #Magic end the quarter 18-5 and lead the #Mavs 71-58

The #Magic opening the third quarter with a technical free throw, a Bane layup and a Suggs steal and layup is something new. Would be nice to see the #Magic extend their lead in the third quarter for a change.

76-61 ORL, 10:38 3rd

Wendell Carter up to a season-high-tying 26 points. His career high is 30. Carter is just doing everything. Filling the right gaps, sealing the post when smaller players are on him, knocking his free throws. His defense has been solid as always too.

93-75 ORL, 5:21 3rd

The #Magic took Wendell Carer out, and things are getting dicey. Defense has not been good all night. They don't have speed on the perimeter when Suggs is out. And the #Mavs go through good shooting bursts. Magic cannot let Dallas hang around.

97-85 ORL, 2:48 3rd

Franz's stints on the court are much shorter tonight -- 3-4 minutes instead of 4-5 minutes. But he has looked much fresher. Playing a worse defense helps. But Wagner up to 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting. Three has not come around. But progress is good for him.

101-89 ORL, 1:53 3d

The #Mavs cut the deficit to 11... and then Franz Wagner took over the rest of the quarter. #Magic got some defense to slow down Brandon Williams. Wagner with 10 of his 18 in the third quarter. Seven in that closing run. Magic lead 111-92 after three quarters.

Jason Kidd is ejected arguing after a Cooper Flagg technical foul. A good case that Flagg was fouled. But a loss of composure for the young team. The #Magic have put lots of distance between them and the #Mavs now.

Frank Vogel is now in charge of the Mavs!

113-92 ORL, 10:45 4th

COUNT THE DUNK! #TeamDesDunk Desmond Bane with his second dunk of the season.

Naji Marshall now getting ejected for the Mavs.

116-92 ORL, 10:40 4th

The #Magic (briefly) led by <checks notes> 30.

30? That can't be right.

122-95 ORL, 9:35 4th

Cooper Flagg up to five threes in the game and 38 points for the game. The #Magic led by 30. They now lead by 18. The ejections have added some juice to this game. With the Magic's state, they can't let the #Mavs get much closer.

123-105 ORL, 7:23 4th

Just a rough game for Paolo Banchero. He fouls out with eight points and four turnovers. Never could find a rhythm. Was in foul trouble most of the game, but that isn't the reason he struggled. Teammates have picked up the energy tonight.

128-107 ORL, 6:08 4th

Challenge will overturn Banchero's sixth foul. So he stays in the game. #Magic need a good three minutes here to put this game away.

Cooper Flagg is on a heater right now. He has 45 points and I believe 13 in the quarter. The #Mavs are too far behind for it to mean much. But this has been some impressive shot-making from him. #Magic haven't been able to slow him down.

134-116 ORL, 3:35 4th

#Mavs wave the white flag. Cooper Flagg exits with 45 points on 17-for-26 shooting. He had 32 in the second half. #Magic would probably normally put Franz Wagner on him. But Wagner is definitely not ready for that big of a defensive assignment... yet.

134-118 ORL, 3:22 4th

They brought Flagg back in to try to get to 50. He misses a three coming out of the timeout. This game is more about that than the result.

And there is a three to get him to 48. He has 21 in the fourth quarter.

134-121 ORL, 2:27 4th

Cooper Flagg has 50 points. Tough shot over Jamal Cain for an and-1.

Everyone wins tonight. Flagg looks like a superstar and the Mavs will lose to preserve their draft position.

My point remains... the #Magic's defensive process has been poor all night.

136-123 ORL, 2:05 4th

Cooper Flagg with a late surge to get a career-high 51 points. But credit to Wendell Carter with a season-high 28 points. The #Magic's effort was fantastic all night, even if the defensive process was not great.

Magic got the win 138-127, their first in Dallas since 2011.
