Okay. I seem to have completely destroyed my ability to send email. I'm going to stop fixing things for today.
… and like magic, the minute I surrender in despair, all the test email I sent turns up in one hit. Anything, _anything_, to do with networking that looks like it failed is quite likely to have just unpredictably succeeded.
This is why the whole business is so stomach-churningly fraught.
