I think a lot about this quote.

"Democracy is of the people, by the people, for the people.... but the people are retarded."

I think democracy is the best system (or nearly so) because it reflects a lot about the society that participates in it.
Not just about who's right and wrong, but how everyone sees the world and what everyone cares about.
