By working for a small nonprofit, I often deal with situations which are tough to identify as legit-or-not.

We receive offers by email for donations that seem unusual.

But we must treat them as valid. And we also must be careful.

Today, after a 1-month correspondence with a possible-donor, a registered "check" was delivered by USPS.

But there was nothing was in our mailbox.

I called USPS. They confirmed the item was scanned as "delivered" and confirmed our address.

They have asked us to wait another day before they investigate.

We are hopeful the item will be delivered.

And of course we hope it is an actual donation. The amount is quite significant for our org.

I can't imagine that this is an unnecessarily complicated scam but... ?
