My aunt and uncle had one of those back in the day (along with a HUGE R2-D2 cookie jar - thing looked almost life size to a kid)

The phone wasn’t hooked up, but it was made VERY CLEAR to us that IT WAS NOT A TOY. If we wanted to see the eyes open and close, we had to ask one of the adults to pick up the reciever.

Uncle still has the R2-D2, no idea what ever became of the Garfield…
