I don't understand why people feel the need to say you should separate the scientist or artist or creator's work from their opinions, like, even if you believe that, does it make sense to defend a racist or transphobe right now, in this moment? What will you gain here?

Has anyone ever been like, "yeah totally. I was just pointing out that they're transphobic, but it's ok, because I like wizard books anyway too. Thanks for educating me on the concept of nuance. I'm a simple minded thing and hadn't considered that I can just ignore morality if it makes me feel good."

This also applies to AI lovers btw.

@domo The amount of transphobic takes of "separating the creator's work from the creator" in order to justify them continuing to give views and money to said creator was astronomical on the thread I dared to make. One person even tried to report my account because I said essentially that doesn't matter how much you like something or not, if the impact of consuming it causes harm, then we should not continue to consume.

They simply want us silenced. That's it.
