I have a "Fresh Pass" with Safeway - for $35/year we get free delivery, perfect for our needs.

Placed an order yesterday that never arrived, called the help number and got the *NEW* Safeway AI assistant. After going in circles for five minutes, I finally managed to be switched to a person.

She asked how she could help me, and I told her the AI assistant was just awful. She sighed deeply and said "Sir, everyone who calls tells me the same thing..." 🤦‍♂️

@jkirkendall Home delivery sounds like a great deal and it can also save money because you're less likely to buy stuff you don't need if you don't go into the store. Unfortunately, they don't deliver where I live, although the local Walmart might. The last time the Walmart delivery guy came up here, I was his last stop, a full 9 miles from the previous one and not on his way back or home. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@mlanger @jkirkendall we do Costco fresh food (same day) delivery and have really appreciated the convenience of it. We order other stuff online too of course.

@jkirkendall Costco has an agreement with Instacart, but I order it directly from the Costco.com website. :) It has three options. 1) Same Day Delivery, 2) 2-Day Delivery, and 3) their Regular online stuff. Oh and 4) Their partnership with various vendors - where you enter your Costco membership into the vendor site and get special deals. :) #Costco

@jkirkendall For same day delivery, we get things like milk, cheese, eggs, their street chicken tacos which we love and make 3 meals for us!, breads, etc. Anything fresh that cannot be shipped. Oh and occasionally their cheesecake. :) :) :)

@jkirkendall I tend to order the non perishables like paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc. oh and condiments, and canned tuna, etc. through their 2-day delivery, so that the Instacart person doesn't have to carry heavy or bulky stuff.

@jkirkendall And it was very helpful when we visited my SIL in North Carolina (I did all the meal planning and cooking) as I had all the ingredients I needed delivered to her home, and so I didn't have to cart anything down from Virginia to her place.
