I've long wondered about tying sidewalks to each house. Sometimes you walk through a new housing development and there will just be this gap in the sidewalk because a house hasn't been built on that particular lot yet. Meanwhile the road is continuous because having an abrupt gap in an important transportation route would be stupid right.
