i like that the thing we like the most about astronauts is that they take pictures of earth. its like the space program is a very very long selfie stick
its like how the first thing we did when we could look at satellite images that actually showed buildings is try to find our houses. i think this is a very good and beautiful thing about humans
@nora But the sticker you selfie the less pixels every face has...

@nora i remember reading and enjoying Moondust, and i think that's where i heard of Edgar Mitchell

“You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch.”
― Edgar Mitchell

@nora unfortunately instead of reading a book, he instead got really into parapsychology and UFOs
@dank its kinda like hallucinogens, it might change your perspective but you might not land on a more correct one

@nora yup, exactly. the main theme of that book is how the people that went to the moon were forever changed by the experience. not that there's a large number of subjects, but it happens often enough to have a codified name
