papi said i could dance before i could walk. papi had a whole career in the 50s as a mambo dancer. mami was an OG Palladium club cutie. so was taught to dance both ways ―coreographed & improv― well into my 20s. with ballet, flamenco, jazz, modern, i have over 20 years of dance training.

so i get when musicians “don’t think”. to me, dancing is a form of drumming ―esp flamenco.

i don't think when i dance. i dance.

@blogdiva You do the thinking in practice. The rehearsals are to commit it to an automatic place. Performance time, you BETTER not be thinking about it at all, or you'll probably fuck up. As a musician, you should be listening at that point. That goes doubly so for improvisational music.
