many things can be said about artemis ii but i like the angle of technological history repeating itself as farce. apollo 8 was guided by some of the most powerful computers ever made up until that point, massive things running on hand-woven memory and just barely enough processing power to get that one hyper specialized job done. 58 years later, with more computers inside the spacecraft than people back then could imagine...... two copies of microsoft outlook running at the same time
first as tragedy (apollo 1 fire) then as farce (two copies of microsoft outlook)
@fredy Don't forget the rocket is a senate-mandated jobs program, and the main engines they are throwing away are shuttle-heritage reusable hardware THAT OUGHT TO BE IN A MUSEUM not at the bottom of the Atlantic (or wherever the core stage ends up).
