@tc_morekindness Growing up, my mom had a strict no cussing in the house rule. My dad had this record and I always got a secret thrill, playing this song with damn in it.

@curtisysmith πŸ˜‚

My older sister and I would listen to this, and she would always mess up my hair and pull at my clothes at the appropriate part. I still think of that every time I hear it. πŸ˜…

That intro can't be beat. I also love "Stop lyin', stop lyin', stop lying!" Your dad knew a good thing. 😎 🎢 🎺

@tc_morekindness One of the great things about music is how it can transport you back in time. Yesterday I heard the song Why Me? by Planet P and it took me straight back to my first apartment. My roommate loved that song and she played it ALL the time
@curtisysmith Yes! Recently, I was appreciating yet again that phenomenon. It's like sometimes you almost feel the way you did back then. Like you're in that body and that life momentarily.
@curtisysmith I think that usually happens with a song that you haven't heard a lot since that original era. My hypothesis is that the more you hear a song over time, the more your original associations are weakened -- "contaminated" -- by your later experiences of hearing the song. Like, you may still remember things originally associated with the song, but you probably don't have that "old body/mind" feeling anymore. I had it a little bit when I heard that Todd Rundgren song you linked to the other day. For whatever reason, I haven't heard the deeper cuts from that album all that much.
@tc_morekindness I think you’re right. I’ve read that every time you remember a past event, your mind alters your memory of that event
@curtisysmith Yeah, I think that's true. That's why it's important to get eye witness accounts as soon as possible after an event.
