As long as I live I will never understand how the far left preached a technology-enabled post-scarcity society for so long, and then as soon as 3-D printers, AI, and robotics started to prove them right they immediately started proclaiming that the whole concept of technology or post-scarcity sucks, actually.
I think this might have something to do with the 0.1% planning to use 3D printers and robot-driven assembly lines to mass-manufacture AI-driven crowd control bots straight from Westworld while the 9.9% toil for them under the threat of robot force and not owning anything, and 90% simply starve because they can't afford anything to eat.
(Also, LLMs are not AI, they're mostly labour-shifting onto the recipients of AI slop, with a large side-serving of mass theft)
I'm all for Fully Automated Luxury Space Gay Communism, but what we're seem to be getting is Somewhat Automated Fascism, and all the productivity gains from new technologies going to the owner class.
