Im curious what fraction of Americans would like to dump Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Apple and Amazon.
Also are the answers different if you say american tech vs listing specific US tech companies?
I've already done so, but I'm a tiny, tiny minority. As far as I can tell, most Americans don't even know that there are alternatives, and even if they do they are so addicted to "convenience" that they can't be bothered to switch. It's kind of insane.
I'd agree having the ability to move off tech on your own is pretty rare.
I do think the reputations of the different companies aren't the same. I think Microsoft and Facebook are widely despised, but Apple is moderately liked.
I suspect part of the political support for banning teens from social media is due to adults negative feelings about Facebook's various "social" media software.
