Emergent Complexity

YouTube

If we consider the communication channels offered by the internet as a technosphere, then one chatroom differs from the next one merely by its title and subject description. We generally are quite 'technospheric' in how we consider the online world. We see apps and features that we use. We see 'users' which represent real people.

The richness of human communication is not conveyed by the technosphere. And while a technosphere may increase our capabilities to communicate, in most cases it also hampers and restricts our ability to convey meaning and human emotion over thin copper and fiberglass wires.

Tech only supports, and can only ever be supportive to human interaction (not touching on far-future-maybe AGI here 😅).

It's sociosphere where we overlay the social complexity of our society on top of these digital channels.

Modeling our sociosphere is what Social experience design (SX) is about. SX represents an entire new field of IT open to anyone to explore.
