So dumbass me a year or two ago had us splurge and buy a couple recertified Seagate Exos X16 drives for my NAS. They arrived DOA, we returned them and got replacements. One died in two weeks, and the other took until JUST NOW. We already bought a 16TB WD Red to replace the POS Seagate that died before, but with the current market ... my RAID array is in danger, and we're in a tight spot money-wise ignoring that.

WD Reds are seemingly sold out everywhere. WD Red Pros are almost sold out. It's $700 - $750 for a WD Red Pro and those are scarce. Time is ticking and I'm broke and I'm scared.

I know it doesn't sound like much, but losing all this data ... I'd be beyond devastated. Please help.

tl;dr: Got massively fucked over by Seagate recertified drives and now need an actual reliable drive FAST to fix a RAID array before I possibly lose an absolute ton of data.

The real fear here isn't as much that one of the other three drives will die. The fear is more that the drives won't be available very, very soon, and I *won't* be able to repair it, at least not in the foreseeable future.
@ColetteDiskette I highly recommend used enterprise drives. e.g., a used 16TB drive is $385, and if you can temporarily downsize (i.e., have 2TB free), a 14TB drive for $280

@stags Recertified enterprise drives are what got me into this mess. I'm done going down that path.

Also I can't downsize because the array already has two different sizes in it.

@ColetteDiskette How much data do you have? Maybe we can find some temp service to back up everything until you sort out the HDD issue? Maybe even a fellow mastodonian volunteer
@stags Maybe 24 TiB, and my upload speed is 40 Mbps.
