Today I saw a car driving around with 'Fuck America' hand painted on the side.

I've seen political protest on the telly, and I've seen election campaign materials in farmers's fields and suchlike.

This is the first time that I've directly seen something blatantly geopolitical on a private motor vehicle.

This isn't a part of the country that generally does slogans on stickers, let alone in paint.

I wonder whether this is indicative of a hidden groundswell of #BoycottUSA opinion.

As we in Canada look on, we think "About fucking time, too."

The problem is that it's quite difficult to tell what the general sentiment is, because people do not wear their politics on their sleeves.

This is not a flags-on-lampposts part of the country. Too many listed buildings for that sort of stuff, I suspect. Or slogans on cars.

For all I know, I could be only now be cottoning on to something that has been simmering for months.

Or it could be just that 1 person.

Indeed. Canada is similar; visible displays of "patriotism", whatever that is, are almost unheard of, apart from perhaps a tiny Canada flag on a car window or something. There's definitely no loud jingoism here.

The threats and insults from the idiots living below us unified Canada politically in a way not seen since ... at least WWII. *Lots* of public expression against it.
