@Theeo123 I really would like to know on what arguments the decision was based to develop an opensource version of OnlyOffice, instead of using Libreoffice

@olibrendel

I did not know about this until today, but i wonder if it has anything to do with this drama?

@Theeo123 well, I don't know. It seems to me that this was after the Euro-Office announcement, no? But a lot is going on. I also saw that Libreoffice put out a statement what opensource should be.
Well, in all of this, I will go on using mainly Libreoffice. What I have seen of OnlyOffice, at least the online versions of writer, it does not seem as sophisticated as LL. And it seems to be too much a Word clone, but that's a very personal viewpoint 😉
And the there is the OnlyOffice copyright announcement

@olibrendel

Yeah, I've got both installed desktop, I don't use the online versions. I mainly use libre office, every once in a while I'll find some weird formatting thing in a word document that just won't render properly, so I open it in only office, but that's about it.

@Theeo123
Ok, good test. Any sozvenir what these weird thigs are ? And is onlyoffice always better in reading docx ? Is this also true for xlsx , where I think problems are bigger ?
My main problem is the Zotero bibliographic data when switching between colleagues editing with LL or MSOffice
@olibrendel no definitely not always, my guess is it has to do with the like 20 different versions of the ms word document format. I almost never use spreadsheets so I can't speak to that. I'm a pretty basic home user. Very casual
