After the 2024 election, support for trans rights was widely viewed as a political liability for Democrats. But in several states across the country, Democrats who are standing firm against anti-trans legislation haven’t seen the backlash many expected β€” and may even be strengthening their standing with voters. This piece takes a closer look at why. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/democrats-trans-rights-support
Democrats Show Political Upside Of Supporting Trans Rights

Many say Democrats need to shift to the right on trans issues. But the evidence shows otherwise.

The Big Picture

@georgetakei

The problem with support for trans rights like everything else about the Democratic Party is that the Democratic Party is widely recognized as throwing working people under the bus.

It’s the economy, stupid. It’s always the economy. The Democratic Party tried to whitewash the affordability crisis people are suffering all the time.

Trump got elected, promising a better economy and he did so by also targeting the people that Democrats were perceived as being obsessed about.

The scapegoat the hatred it really really sucks it’s a moral abomination, but the Democratic leadership is too stupid to understand that it’s always been the economy

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @georgetakei

or, they understand and don't care because what/who matters to them are their big donors?

Trust is earned.
Trust is electable.
@georgetakei believe it or not, believing in things is popular! To quote W "You may not agree with me, but you know where I stand." I have no idea where the formerly kente cloth wearing Democrat right stands. One day they were maligning the "toxic dirtbag bro" left for not wanting to put pronouns in profiles and the next day they were supporting bathroom bans. Nobody thinks these sociopaths believe in anything because they truly do not.
