I wish the EU and the US the best of luck in negotiating common IT regulations. I won't hold my breath that they manage to develop anything reasonable.

Digital Regulation: EU seeks closer cooperation with US government

The EU and the US are negotiating a dialogue on digital regulation. Brussels emphasizes that its regulations are non-negotiable, yet the US government is to be involved in their implementation.

@kdkorte Doesn't this conflict with "digital sovereignty?" Or is that just for mass consumption? Today's "US government" doesn't apply half measures.
@AAKL From what I've read and heard so far, the focus is especially on AI regulation, with social media and consumer tech coming in second and third.
I doubt they touch government tech. Trump's sanctions, bans, and tariffs have just stomped on too many feet.
Thus, any agreement will likely be something that allows both of them to claim a win. E.g.: restrictions on Adult-Only AI, while stopping chips from going to China.
@kdkorte Fair enough. Everything is so entangled that there's no escaping such encounters. It's better than fighting anyway.
