Almost the end of a Mazama mountaineering class. It's been a lot of fun. Last weekend was climbing and rappelling practice out on actual rock. First up was Rooster Rock, which is a big basalt tower, presumed to have fallen off the cliffs around nearby Crown Point sometime during the Missoula floods. Chinook called it iwash (which means phallis), and the colonists called it Cock Rock, but later went with "Rooster Rock" I guess because they couldn't find pants big enough to cover it up.
