More to the point, is that Todd Blanche (His former defense lawyer) is the new acting AG and is the same guy that moved Maxwell to a “club fed” after her interview where she claimed to have never seen or heard Trump do anything wrong with girls.
It would be easier to shield Bondi from testifying to congress by “firing” her.
A) If she gets a new request to testify, she could refuse and if compelled, she could still defy and Trump would have the DOJ ignore the resulting criminal referral.
B) If she did testify, then Trump’s DOJ would certainly prosecute her (probably for some shit she actually did do). So she would be much more inclined to take path A
