Everyone who signs up for Surf automatically gets a Mastodon account running on the surf.social Mastodon instance. The Mastodon API, account system and server infrastructure is extremely impressive and foundational.
Darwin Woodka@darwinwoodka @Gargron Yes, check out your account settings in the app. You'll see you can either connect your existing mastodon account to it or you can just use the one on surf.social.
This helps people who are not technical and just want to join a community engage with all the folks across the social web without having to worry about activity pub, at proto, etc.
