It is time to replace my 2017 Intel MacBook Pro. There are now too many models to choose from. :|

@psyolus I’m still using my M1, but if my memory serves me correctly, M4 or higher is better because M1-3 don’t support more than one external screen natively (DisplayLink solves this for M1-3 but not all docks are compatible).

If you don’t plan to use multiple screens then I suppose that does widen your options.

@fernacen I have a M1 at work and use two 4k monitors through a CalDigit TS3+. Will also drive the built in display at the same time.

@psyolus ah yeah I forgot that those existed. More seamless integration and less overhead compared to DisplayLink I imagine.

I just have a second-hand Targus dock that I use with two 2k’s. I know it can also drive the built in, but I usually leave it clamshelled.

@fernacen @psyolus definitely an m4. I bricked mine last month updating it. Was forced back to an m1. It was night and day difference in compile speed for the massive app I work on.
