As someone who has written code to differentiate between parent and child processes, and also someone who has weird bad dreams…

This is my worst nightmare. I can’t just deterministically figure out which is which and thus who should do what, but I have to *convince* the different processes to accept their roles?

I can’t realistically feel squeamish about how I treat software. But I *can* feel squeamish about how I act, regardless of the target.
