@DanielMReck

We all rely on the standard cans as a mark of reliability.

This damages the entire syrup harvesting industry’s reputation. When affordability is a general issue, we can’t criticize consumers for seeking the suspiciously lowest price products at the supermarkets. However, the supermarkets have a duty to question suppliers who are unrealistically undercutting their competitors.

We’d been seeing claims about syrup cut with sugar water, similar to honey. So, for both we’ve been relying on smaller organic producers. Not everyone can do that.

This practice has hurt everyone who can’t get to the small producers in person and pick up a few 1 L bottles or a case of cans. Another case of supermarkets no longer being a place where consumers can rely on legal supply, labelling and sourcing.
