To quote the councillor in the article: "the widespread installation of flags by Raise the Colours is not a sign of patriotism.

"It is an act of intimidation and division that is having a real and damaging impact on our communities."

Basically, the St George (England) and Union (UK) flags have both historically been used by the far-right as emblems. The situation being reported on here is a continuation of that.

i think they work for the yanks. they prolly use our flag as rage bait. divide and conquer and all that bollox.

@bithive @UnconventionalEmma for me, disrespect for the flag for a start, and the St George's Cross in the photo is associated with the far right. Also, why don't these people buy a flag pole and put up a flag properly in their own garden if they are so nationalist?
