Violet — 13½ years old, not great eyesight — managed to actually catch a cat when we walked her this morning! It was asleep in a patch of sun around a corner and Violet (on lead of course) caught it unawares and had it in her jaws before anyone could react. But then she didn't seem to know what to do next, dropped it and backed away!

I'm glad not just for the cat; Violet's too old to be getting into any nasty fights, losing an eye, infected cuts and all that.

@grifferz oof! Am walking an 11-yr old lurcher this week, we stood and watched a small squirrel dash about on the road a fair way from its trees, until it went the correct direction eventually
