#bikegeometry I forgot the ATB book at home. How was it with front load, rake and head angle? Does front load porteur style need more rake or less? And what about head angle?
Porteur with 45 to 55 mm tire size should have what head angle and what rake? Let‘s say with 650b as it more common for porteur? Mir spukt da gerade was im Kopf rum❣️

What's most important is trail, influenced by head angle and rake. What you want to achieve with a front load is relatively low to mid trail (ranging from 3x to low 50 mm), for that you want to increase rake in most cases.

I don't want to suggest concrete numbers, the bike in my header has 54 mm of trail with a 72.5 head angle and 55 mm rake, that's considered mid-trail. Friend of mine rides an Elephant National Forest Explorer with trail in the 30s.

I also ride a bike with trail in the 60s with a front load, sometimes a lot, and it's rideable and I like it. But comparing it to my mid-trail bike, I definitely prefer the handling with the latter. More precise, lively, can ride no hands even with a load . Really surprised how well that works, to be honest.

@Jay23Jay
