any engineering problem that isn’t solvable by “hiring a bunch of autistic trans women” isn’t worth solving anyway
@ErinRose unfortunately some work for military contractors
@wyatt that’s why it’s “hiring a bunch of autistic trans women” not, “hiring a tiny subset of autistic trans women who would be willing to work for an arms manufacturer”
@ErinRose i'm not going to go into it too much but raytheon was known for being an especially "good" employer for LGBTQ+
So it's a fair number of them
Trans people aren't magically morally or ethically better and a fair number are awful
There are lots of autistic trans people on 4chan too. It's not as tiny a minority as you and I might hope. Although I do hope it's at least a minority, even if a sizable one

@wyatt This isn’t new information to me, you’re implying an argument that I am absolutely not making - Transfem engineers are not “magically” morally better, but as a consequence of our lived experience (and to some extent autistic traits) we’re a lot less likely to be willing to work for morally abhorrent companies.

many of the other transfem engineers I know in the UK are out of work at least in part because most engineering jobs here are in that sector..

and how is 4chan relevant to this?!

@ErinRose i made my case, it's 4 AM now, I don't want to argue about this right now
As for 4chan if you were ever a 4chan regular you'd probably understand what I mean, lots of neo nazis who are also some shade of queer and often trans if you look on the /lgbt/ board (I don't recommend, the whole place is terrible)

I personally am out of (meaningful/interest related) work because everything's in the defense industry here too.

Going to bed now, i really don't want to argue a ton about this, I can already tell it's not going to change anything because we're not sharing a common conception of what this is about (speaking across terms)
@wyatt cool, bye
