47 years ago, #Iran had a referendum to decide if people wanted royalty or Islamic republic.

Khomeini denied the calls to change the title of the referendum to "republic" or royalty and forced the votes to be between royalty and Islamic republic instead.

Our whole family voted no, I couldn't vote because I was too young. But when the votes were counted, our district has less than 50 "no" votes, even though I could personaly name twice as many who voted no.

Only 1% of the votes were NO, and the liberals, conservatives, MKO and Soviet friendly tudeh party, all voted yes, and for months they were making joke of the 1%:ers who didn't like the blank check given to Khomeini to legitimize his hijacking of the revolution.
Shortly after that, the newly created IRGC attacked Turkmen minority, followed by brutal crackdown in Kurdistan, all backed by the liberals and communists.
Every months after that, things got worse, talibanism became the norm and opposition groups crushed, including the liberals.
It's a sad day for me.
Remembering the short lived joy of freedom and unity in the country while watching today's Armageddon like images and videos from Tehran and Isfahan.
