Innocent civilian F35 fighter jets

For those who don’t understand what the interceptors are actually for: www.youtube.com/shorts/uIB28MBDujw

for others who aren’t following: the message here is that the interceptors are designed to protect military assets more than civilians (so it comes across as ingenuous or overly sympathetic to Israel to claim it’s primarily for protecting civilians)

I guess I would push back on this a bit, first of all in a colonial settler system, the line between civilian and militant is blurred a bit and I feel Israel intentionally weaponizes the civilian status of settlers and puts Israeli civilian lives at risk. (Even recently Israel has accidentally killed Israeli farmers during the on-going war against Iran.)

Regardless, I think it’s hard deny that the Iron Dome does intercept missiles fired into civilian centers, and thus has saved Israeli civilian lives - even if the Iron Dome is also used to protect military assets, that obviously does not nullify the Iron Dome’s protection of civilian lives. (This is just how defense systems are in conflicts in which civilians are often targeted.)

Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, fired rockets into northern Israeli population centers in the 1990s, posing a security challenge for the Israel Defense Forces. Israel had floated the idea of its own short-range antimissile system, but U.S. defense officials cautioned that it would be “doomed to fail”.

o the south, more than 8,000 projectiles (estimated at 4,000 rockets and 4,000 mortar bombs) were fired indiscriminately into Israel from Gaza between 2000 and 2008, principally by Hamas. Almost all of the rockets fired were Qassams launched by 122 mm Grad launchers smuggled into the Gaza Strip, giving longer range than other launch methods. Nearly a million Israelis living in the south were within rocket range, posing a serious security threat to the country and its citizens.

I think it might be better to criticize the Iron Dome as a kind of psychological crutch to resolving conflict, as it gives Israeli citizens a sense of safety and security, alleviating political pressure to avoid or resolve the conflicts that Israel stirs up.

Iron Dome - Wikipedia

Zionist military bases are not civilian areas. Palestinians have no access to high tech precision missiles so they aim their missiles in the general direction of military bases.

Palestinian resistance has killed plenty of terror militants using unguided rockets which weren’t intercepted by the iron dome www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68960585

Israel-Gaza war: Four soldiers killed in Kerem Shalom rocket attack

Israel's military said early on Monday it was urging Gazans sheltering in parts of Rafah to move.

If you didn’t cut off the next paragraph to fit your own agenda, the full quote is that Israel has more than enough already, and that consistent with her voting record this far, she will not be voting to supply more to Israel.

Why are you so obviously focused on twisting one Congressperson’s words?

The point is pretending that the “iron dome” is meant to protect civilians and not military assets.
thank you, I needed this explanation
It might be meant to protect military assets; doesn’t mean it can’t protect civilians.
That makes her statement worse not better. Now she’s framing it like she supports “innocent civilians” dying instead of Israel using interceptors to protect their military bases which is the primary target of the resistance.
Eh, two things can be true.
They’re not
Unless iron dome is being used explicitly to prevent attacks on military targets while allowing attacks on civilian targets, that’s just not the case.
Lol no, fuck off loser
Look, I can explain it to you, but I can’t understand it for you. Have a good day.
Get a job
What’s cute is that you’re a rage bait troll, telling me to get a job. ❤️
