@chris The HBO series "From the Earth to the Moon" is one of the best documentaries of the moon shot in the 60s and early 1970s.
The Space Shuttle was far more versatile and workhorse than this little weekend seightseeing trip.
@chris It is a test of Newtown's law around a body exerting gravity. They aren't landing on Moon for a weekend camping trip to collect rocks and take pictures.
There is still a very long way before some vehicle is attached to Orion to let crew land on Moon and perform that camping trip.
