‘The bond markets’ are not some rabid monolith. They always run diversified risked portfolios that absorb losses and bad luck, and still make good returns on the successful bits.
Frankly, they wouldn’t be at all surprised if the water sector became a bad debt, they’ve already priced it in, and are probably wondering why Reeves doesn’t just get in with it.
Govt are allowing themselves to be spooked by a boogeyman that doesn’t really exist.
