📫 Oof. I lived in rural Canada for almost 20 years and there were “community mailboxes” everywhere. It sounds like an easy thing, but the reality is that a lot of them were in tiny turnouts on roads or just literally by the side of the road. It’s hard to get your car off the road when there’s many people picking up their mail, which there always is, and cars whizzing by fragile human bodies in winter and rain is bad, too.
And the people who can’t get to a community mailbox due to illness or mobility issues are totally left out.
I get that #CanadaPost is broke but wholesale community mailboxes across the board is not the answer.

If your dog goes crazy every time the mail delivery person shows up at your door, you may be relieved to know that it soon may no longer be a problem. But beyond that, a lot of people are uncertain what the pending demise of door-to-door mail delivery means for them.
